HANSEL SATO

Born in in Trujillo, Peru. He came to Vienna in 1998 with the Unesco-Aschberg grant for art and since then he has been living and working there. He studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts from Vienna with Prof. Franz Graf. Before that he was Assistant at the Universidad Católica de Lima. He has travelled in different countries in Asia, Latin America and Europe. He has represented his country at several biennales and international events.

Theorethical Work: transculturalism and society, postcolonialism and the construction of the post-migrant subjet in Europe.
Artistic Work: figurative painting, political comics and drawings.

 

EDUCATION

October 1999 - November 2004:
Masters degree in painting and graphic design, Academy of Fine Arts by Prof. Franz Graf, Vienna.

April 1989 - March 1994:
Painting studies, Universidad Catolica, Lima by Prof. Julia Navarrete, graduating as the best student.
